External Carriers for Scooters
I have two carriers for my scooters. I use them each for carrying the Triad for differing purposes.
The first carrier is the small one I use on the Prius and it is very basic. I originally bought it years ago for carrying cargo outside my Excursion. We used it for gas cans and equipment when going camping and to our cabin. However now it gets a lot of use holding the Triad.
The carrier is a reasonably priced and the equivalent can be found at Amazon or harbor freight. Mine is the “HAUL-MASTER 500 Lb. Steel Cargo Carrier”. If you have a Harbor Freight near you, you can use the common Harbor Freight 20% off coupons on it. A link to the Amazon carrier is : https://amzn.to/2Q3OBAD which is actually a bit cheaper than Harbor Freight and is eligible for Prime delivery.
The Harbor Freight one I’ve used extensively for over a year carrying my Triad scooter. It was on my Prius every day for a solid 10 months with my scooter attached. I also used it for about 8 years very lightly when traveling, with larger luggage.
The second carrier I have works best on my Excursion because it’s to long for my Prius and has lower portions that hang to close to the road on such a low car. The carrier has a ramp on it to help load a mobility scooter. It also folds up to the rear of the vehicle when a scooter isn’t on it.
This one is from Northern Tool . It’s a “Ultra-Tow Aluminum Hitch Cargo Carrier with Ramp — 500-Lb. Capacity, Black, 60in. x 30in. x 4in.” This carrier is about $225 when on sale and can be found at : https://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200696939_200696939
Here’s some more pictures of this carrier with the Triad on it and ready to go.
I have no relation to either of the carriers. However the Amazon links I posted are my affiliate links. I am just a customer who bought the carriers and use them.
